Copying your shop folder andthen manually renaming the project leads to a corrupted shop. If the shop iscorrupted, you cannot be able to open it in ShopFactory. In some cases, you maystill open the shop in ShopFactory, but you will still encounter issues such aschanges are not saved properly, ShopFactory crashes and other issues.

This is the proper way of renaming a shopfile:

- Open shop in ShopFactory
- Click File -> Save AS... -> enter new project name, i.e. shop-name_2010-06-11_1425
- Then zip this newly saved shop and move it to a different directory or saveit in a USB stick, etc. - to create a backup.

If you have manually copied a shopfolder and then manually renamed the folder and then zipped it up and moved itsomewhere else, the mdb still points to the old location. This causes problem.

The sfc-file has the absolute pathto the database. If you have original shop named TESTSHOP saved underc:path oshop the path in the sfc-file will state:

c:path oshopTESTSHOPTESTSHOP.mdb

When you manually rename the shop-folder name and was not saved under a newproject name the path in sfc-file will still be c:path oshopTESTSHOPTESTSHOP.mdb

When you move the manually renamed shop folder to, for example, c:OTHERpath
When opening the shop in c:OTHERpathTESTSHOP the sfc will still opendatabase: c:path oshopTESTSHOPTESTSHOP.mdb WHICH WILL LEAD TO CORRUPTIONas two folders are used.

ShopFactory requires that all three should have thesame name and that the database filename should be used in the following:
- shop folder name
- .SFC filename
- .MDB filename

Once you have confirmed that these three have the same name, you need to checkthat the shop is opening the correct database. ShopFactory will open thedatabase specified inside the *.SFC file.

Please do the following to check this:

- Right-click the Start button and click Explore to open your Windows Explorerand go to your shop-folder (by default it is in: My DocumentsShopFactory V8 Websites). When you are at "ShopFactory V8 Websites" folder, locate yourshop-folder.
- Double click to open it
- Locate the .SFC file and right-click on it.
- At the shortcut menu, select "Open With" -> Notepad
- Locate the line:

C:Documents and
Settings...............................{shop}.mdb

where, {shop} is the name of the database

Whatever is in the {shop} - that should be your shop's database name. So checkif the .MDB file in your shop folder has the same name as what's specifiedinside the .SFC file.

Rename your shop folder, .SFC filename, and .MDB filename to whatever was specifiedin the .

Now,open your shop in ShopFactory. You should now be able to edit your shop withoutproblems.
